Boo! Be sure to check out my seasonal songs while they’re still relevant. Do share and make funny videos:

Ok, friends, I have a veritable whirlwind of shows coming up, so I’m writing everyone just like a young writer should. If you DO NOT live near Austin, Houston, Nashville, or Asheville/Hendersonville, I’m sorry. Let me know what I can do to appease you in the future. For now, please tell your friends in those crazy towns to come see me.

We begin tonight at Flipnotics, where I’ll perform the season finale of my October solo shows. Guess what? I have a brand new round sticker (check it out), and I’ll give you one if you come see me. I’ll give you TWO if you place $5 in the tip jar. I’ll give you THREE if you’ll pay me a salary to walk around your house writing songs all day. The great, dreaded Graham Wilkinson follows with the late show.

Friday, I reunite with the touring Matt the Electrician in Houston at the legendary Anderson Fair. Where’s he been? What’s he been up to? It doesn’t matter. He’s back in Texas with his 6-star new record, Animal Boy, and we’ll push our duets into your airspace all night long.

Saturday, I’m back in Austin playing a quick set to kick off Five Things Austin: Hello From Texas. Five Things is always a fun combination of words, vibes, and music; I can only imagine combining it with Halloween and the Texas Book Festival. Come early for little ol’ me; stay for the free beer and literary expression.

Next week, I return briefly to the road with my Autumn Mini-Tour. I begin by reuniting with my old home, Nashville. where I started playing solo shows in the 20th Century. It’s been 3 whole years since my last visit. This time, I’ve promised myself that I will visit the Country Music Hall of Fame Museum and perform at Bongo Java After Hours Theatre on Thursday 11/5.

I’ll also visit my lovely friends Todd and Meg in the Asheville area, Hendersonville specifically, where I’ll perform a house concert on Saturday 11/7. Let me know if you’d like to attend that show, and I’ll use my influence to get you in.

I invite you all to visit southpawjones.com, where you can listen to dozens of songs for free, all day long. Thanks for reading, and please check out the details below if they are relevant to you as a person. Thanks!

Tuesday & Wednesday & You

Oct 20th, 2009 Posted in Miscellany | no comment »

Friends, you can find me playing live two nights in a row starting tonight. It’s like a left-handed weekend right in the middle of the week!

Tuesday, 7 pm, I’ll appear outside at Jo’s Coffee downtown on 2nd, where Brian Kremer will join me with his electrified guitar and smooth vocals. The weather will be beautiful, the sliders are tasty, and they’ll have $2 Lone Star tallboys to quench your thirst. Come on out, and listen to the sounds of my voice float through the ravines of downtown like a melodic boy in a love balloon.

Wednesday, 8:30 pm, of course, I will once again hold down the fort at Flipnotics, another great venue where stimulants are available alongside depressants, and good times times flow with abandon ’cause vandals took the handle. This shall be the third of my October candidates for Best Show Ever, and I simply must top myself! The great Graham Wilkinson follows my set with his late show.

Both nights are free, but I welcome tips in the $5 range. Here are the details:

Tuesday, October 20, 2009
with Brian Kremer
7:00 pm
Downtown Jo’s
242 West Second Street
Austin, TX 78701

Evil Dead: The Ad

Oct 7th, 2009 Posted in Miscellany | no comment »

My sweet Maggie is about to perform brilliantly in a bloody production of Evil Dead: The Musical, and I can’t wait! It runs on weekends through October, and I placed an ad in the program to plug my solo shows at Flipnotics. Check it out:

Wednesdays @ Flipnotics

You should see Evil Dead: The Musical and my solo show, and fill yourself with culture like a petri dish. Sincere thanks to Mac Blake for illustrating and designing the ad. Hire him and make him rich!
