Whip In Tonight + Encyclopedia Tomorrow

Jul 14th, 2010 Posted in Miscellany | no comment »

You guys!

I don’t have time for jokes and wild.
“Wild” is a noun now.
“Noun” is a verb now.

The point is this: I have a solo show at the fabulous Whip In tonight at 8 pm, and I’m performing tomorrow night as part of the super-fun Encyclopedia Show. Details are below, and I hope you can make it!

Wednesday(s) @ Whip In

Jul 6th, 2010 Posted in Miscellany | no comment »

Friends, the summer heat has drained my writing ability. My brain is mushy mush. I’m excited about playing Wednesdays at the wonderful Whip In this month, but I can’t think of a way to drum up interest.

I’m like the ant who finds a great 2-for-1 coupon on paper towels but can’t spend it because it’s a hundred times his body weight and he doesn’t have a checking account or legal tender. I’m like the manager of the bacon factory who says “More slices!” but all the workers hear it as “Morse License,” so they just stare back, dumbfounded. It’s like ten thousand spoons when all you need is a knife.

All I know is, I’m excited to be playing where the people are friendly, the drinks are extraordinary, and the food is yummy varied. There is never a cover, but I sure do appreciate $5 tips. Come enjoy the air conditioning with me, and pick up beer/wine/incense/chocolate for the pantry while you’re at it.

Carousel Lounge Wednesday

May 24th, 2010 Posted in Miscellany | no comment »

Friends, I just need 20 seconds of your time to tell you about a fun show this Wednesday night at the wonderful Carousel Lounge. Brian Kremer and I are playing a double bill. If you haven’t seen Brian and his stellar band, this is an excellent opportunity. His sounds are real sounds from and for the heart. They’ll open the show, then I’ll provide a solo set, then Brian will join me for some song-swapping, laughter, and tears. Sounds like a can’t-miss emotional roller coaster at an otherworldly carnival to me!

There’s no cover, although we appreciate $5 tips. The Carousel is a cash only bar; they sell beer and set-ups.

I won’t have another full show until mid-June, so join us, and make it a Hump Day for the ages!

Wednesday, May 26, 2010
9:00pm
Carousel Lounge
1110 East 52nd Street
Austin, TX 78723

Thanks!

Tonight & Beyond: The Coming May

May 5th, 2010 Posted in Miscellany | no comment »

Friends, I have a wild variety of shows this month, and I hope you’ll join me for one, some, or all of them.

This evening, you can find me at Momo’s for the Awesome & Great Reading Show. I will perform a few songs, including one I wrote specifically for the occasion, based on a short story. Chicago writers Zoe Zolbrod and Gina Frangello will read new works based on or inspired by songs. It is a wellspring of creativity on West 6th!

Monday, I’ll join the wonderful McMercy Family Band and other acts at the legendary Hole in the Wall. Should be a wild way to start off the week. Next Friday, May 14, you can catch me opening Five Things, a great recurring event featuring all kinds of artists. Finally, Monday May 17, I’ll return to Flipnotics backed by the versatile duo of Trevor & Dru as they present their Strange Brew Songwriter Showcase.

That about does it for the news in my little world. Enjoy the springtime, and thanks for your support. Here be the details:
